Everyone wants to achieve the American Dream. But in today's society, many can be confused as to what the modern American Dream truly is. Through years and years of the American Dream changing, through wanting home ownership to wanting riches to wanting to fit in to society, the dream has become modernized. The modern American Dream is to actually have less than what one had before. The modern American Dream is to be able to give away the excess in one's life in order to live a simpler life with less obstacles. More and more over time, people have been wanting to experience the fundamental aspects of life in a more enlightened way, but they are often held back by their material goods and excess in their lives. Therefore, people want to give up on the previous lives they had and live a truer, more traditional life. People want to live life with meaning, by making lasting and important relationships with others. People also want to discover their own individuality, instead of conforming to what society wants them to be. Life is to be lived with purpose, and the american dream has been modeled by this revelation, as people are wanting to live life surrounded by the beauty of the world and the people that matter to them. materialism is continuously becoming a less and less important concept. This is the modern American Dream.
